template help with a vBa module

I'm doing something similar with my site that www.nymfans.com (http://www.nymfans.com/) did with theirs. I'm trying to add a module on top of my site (http://s116946478.onlinehome.us/vb/cmps_index.php) that could be like a feature story, where the latest thread and first x words are shown in a specific forum id, and I need help with the template to do so. I know that I need to make a table, but I'm not sure where to put the variables. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

Anyone? I posted over at vBulletin.org as well, but no on has responded to my thread, despite 34 people (as of 1 PM on the east coast) reading it and passing over it. I think it's a simple task, and I just want to make sure that I do it right w/out messing anything up. Basically all I need is a template with a table in it that displays the most recent post in a specific forum, and the first x words. I hope someone can help me, as vBulletin.org nor vBulletin.com couldn't.
