So, a friend of yours is considering buying a forum software license, but he or she can't decide on which to buy. You try to talk them into vBulletin, but they seem to find that UBB's solutions are better. At this point, you are frustrated and need to find a way to get them to decide on vBulletin.

Friends don't let friends use UBB. Remember that.

So, what would you do to try to get them to use the best forum software: vBulletin?

There was a time when I was an installer for UBB and that forum ran the internet. I certainly remember advocating for the software over a few of the other solutions of the time but by the time vb came out it was clear something with a database was needed (versus the old ubb flat file system). I never looked back after switching to vb but every now and then I do find a forum using ubb, it certainly works and for some people I suppose it is right, it just isn't for me.

I considered it but it came down to certain features I wanted that vBulletin had and UBB didn't

Rofl, how bloody true...I really don't see why people like PHPBB.

I would just take them through the demo install of vbulletin, and explain the possibilities and features and take them to the various skin sites, like extremepixels to show them how cool the forum can be.
